Want to read how Paralives came to be?
Seven years in the making, Paralives arrived on Steam in May 2026 and gave life-sim fans something genuinely new: a cozy, grid-free world where you build homes, shape characters called Parafolk, and follow their everyday lives at your own pace.
The game comes from Paralives Studio, an independent team in Montreal, and is currently in Early Access on Windows and macOS. It grows through free updates, with no paid DLC, and its built-in modding tools plus official Steam Workshop support were there from day one. The Paralives custom content scene is already blooming because of it.

Why Paralives Deserves Its Own Diary
It is always an engaging jorney to follow a newborn game conquesting players’ hearts. Paralives sold a million copies within its first month of Early Access, and the community answered just as quickly: thousands of creations appeared on the Steam Workshop within weeks of launch. For players raised on years of Sims custom content, that speed felt familiar. For a brand-new indie world, it was remarkable.
What makes Paralives such fertile ground for creators is the way it is built. Walls curve. Furniture resizes and recolors freely. The Paramaker lets you shape Parafolk of nearly any body, style and personality. When the base game hands players that much creative control, custom content stops being a patch for missing features and becomes pure self-expression, which is exactly the kind of CC we love to feature.
Our approach here is simple and a little old-fashioned: we browse widely, pick carefully, and always link to the creator’s official page. No re-uploads, no mirror links, no mystery files. Whether you are after a quietly beautiful CC set or a Paralives mod that smooths a rough Early Access edge, everything on these pages was chosen by a person, checked by a person, and traced back to the person who made it.
And there is plenty of road ahead. The studio’s public roadmap points toward pets, seasons, pools and more arriving as free updates over roughly two years of Early Access. Every one of those updates will shake the modding scene a little. Old favourites will need patches, new categories will open up, and we will be here keeping notes. That is what a diary is for.
Paralives FAQ
What is Paralives?
Paralives is a single-player life simulation game from Paralives Studio, an independent team based in Montreal. You build homes with flexible, grid-free tools, create characters called Parafolk in the Paramaker, and guide their lives in an open town.
Is Paralives out yet, and on what platforms?
Yes. Paralives launched in Early Access on Steam on May 25, 2026, for Windows and macOS. Early Access means the game is fully playable and actively growing, with some features still on the way.
Does Paralives support mods and custom content?
It does, and it has since day one. The game ships with built-in modding tools, and creations are shared through the official Paralives Steam Workshop: subscribe to an item on Steam and it shows up in your game. Script mods, meaning mods that change the game’s code, are not currently planned, so most content is objects, clothing, lots and Parafolk presets.
What is the difference between a mod and CC?
Custom content (CC) adds new things to look at and use: furniture, clothing, hairstyles, decor. Mods change how the game behaves by tweaking gameplay, adding options or fixing small annoyances. On Pixels Diary we keep them on separate pages so you can browse whichever mood strikes.
Will game updates break my mods?
Sometimes, yes. That is normal during Early Access, when patches arrive often. A safe habit: back up your saves before trying new content, and add a few items at a time. We re-check every link we feature after each patch.
Does Paralives sell paid DLC?
No. The studio has committed to free content updates during Early Access and beyond, with no paid DLC. Community content on the Steam Workshop is free as well, and creators are not allowed to paywall their uploads.
